Shehbaz Sharif  inaugurated different projects completed with a cost of billions of rupees besides laying the foundation stones of a number of development projects

BUREWALA – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, alluding to PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, said liars would be defeated in the upcoming general elections.

“Khan and Zardari did nothing for their provinces; they can’t even face the people of their respective provinces,” he said, adding they just wanted to halt progress in the Punjab through strikes and sit-ins.

Addressing a public rally at Burewala, Shehbaz Sharif said Zardari should bring back the wealth looted by him from the country instead of accusing other leaders of corruption. “If we get a chance, we will turn Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta into Lahore,” he claimed.

Referring to PML-N’s victory in NA-154 by-polls, the chief minister said Jahangir Tareen had spent billions of rupees on his son’s election campaign.

Shehbaz said the government had fulfilled its promises and the country would no longer face power outages. He said the government had built roads in rural areas to facilitate the people. He promised to provide better medical facilities for the rural areas of the province. “There is an under-construction hospital in Burewala. CT scan machines are being installed in all the hospitals of the Punjab,” he affirmed.

Shehbaz also promised University of Agriculture, Burewala sub-campus, would be made a full agriculture university. He announced the construction of a bridge on the River Sutlej from Burewala to Chishtian. He also announced to make Gaggoo Mandi a new tehsil out of Burewala and set up a medical college at Vehari.

Earlier, before reaching the meeting venue, the chief minister inaugurated several education, infrastructure, health, sports and agriculture projects worth billions of rupees in Vehari, Burewala and Mailsi. He also inaugurated an e-library at Vehari’s sports stadium, a special education centre, slow learners’ institute, Rescue 1122 service in Burewala, a mobile health unit in Vehari and upgrade of the DHQ hospital to a 300-bed facility. Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated different projects completed with billions of rupees. He also laid the foundation-stones of a number of development projects.

He said the PML-N government had fulfilled its promise to overcome the energy crisis, adding due to their continued efforts, loadshedding was over now. The federal and the Punjab governments had jointly set up electricity projects of thousands of megawatts besides completing energy projects under the CPEC. During the next summer season, rooms would be cold, trade and economic activities would be in full swing and agriculture sector would also be having good productivity, he claimed.

“Imran Khan who is the king of liars had promised during the election campaign in 2013 that they would produce electricity in KP and supply it to the entire Pakistan. After four and a half years, they have claimed generation of 74 megawatts. Khan Sahib, please tell the people where your generated electricity is. I advise Niazi Sahib to stop lying and go home because politics is beyond your capacity and potential. Khan Sahib also said they would not go for metro bus project and the money would be spent on developing institutions like schools, colleges and hospitals. When dengue attacked Peshawar, they had no treatment arrangements and he himself hid in mountains to avoid a dengue attack. We sent medical teams, mobile hospitals and medicines from Punjab to Peshawar to control dengue while Khan Sahib was found nowhere as he had gone to Nathia Gali. Contrary to it, when dengue attacked Lahore in 2011, we fully countered and eliminated it,” the CM said.

Strongly criticising Asif Ali Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif said: “He claims to bring back the looted money. I advise him to return the poor people’s money which he has looted. Otherwise, we will bring it back after winning the 2018 elections and spend the same on the welfare of the masses. They have ruined Karachi as there is garbage everywhere and broken roads are adding a lot to the people’s miseries. Since both Khan and Zardari could not do anything for their people in their respective provinces, they are unable to face them and come to the Punjab to threaten us with strikes. Khan staged his first sit-in in Islamabad in 2014 when the Chinese president was scheduled to visit Pakistan for signing agreements in September 2014, but due to stubbornness of Khan Sahib, this visit was postponed. This kind of attitude of Khan is tantamount to enmity to the nation. Zardari and Niazi Sahib have shattered the dreams of the poor people by creating hurdles in development projects and now people will hold their accountability,” the Punjab CM reiterated.

“If PML-N wins the 2018 elections, we will bring other cities at par with Lahore with regard to development, the chief minister said, adding the Punjab government had brought revolution in the health sector. CT scanners are being installed in all the DHQ hospitals to provide round-the-clock facility.

Talking about different steps for the development of the agriculture sector, the chief minister said fertilizers were being provided at half the price jointly by the federal and Punjab governments. “The Punjab government is providing billions of rupees as subsidy for running tube-wells. It is for the first time that interest-free loans are being provided to small farmers. Moreover, 300,000 deserving students of low-income families are getting free quality education through PEEF. Interest-free loans up to Rs 50,000 are being given to needy youth under Chief Minister’s Self- Employment Scheme,” the CM concluded.
